Therapeutic Recreation Programs
A range of programs are used to engage, empower and enhance the quality of life for the individual. The Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist along with the Therapeutic Recreation Facilitators are passionate about making a difference in the lives of our participants. Therapeutic Programs are designed and based on individual assessments, strengths and leisure interests.
Exercises & Physical Activities
The daily Care Fit program is specially designed to improve strength, functional ability, range of motion, balance and coordination.
Physical activities include programs such as bowling, shuffleboard, toss games, move and stretch, bocce ball, curling and many more.
Cognitive Programs
Participating in cognitive programs can assist in decision making skills, stimulate brain health, and promote social engagement. Some of the programs offered are word games, quizzes, crosswords, trivia, discussion sessions, learning groups and virtual experiences.
Music
Research supports music as an integral part of well-being as it engages the brain, alleviates stress, enhances expression and provides opportunities for reminiscing. Music programs provided include singalongs, therapeutic drumming, name that tune, music bingo, Java Music Club © and Pathways Room 217 ©.
Creative & Sensory Stimulation
Participation in creative and sensory programs promotes opportunities to share common interests, self-expression and promotes relaxation. We offer programs such as gardening, art projects, paint classes, seated relaxation, mindfulness practice and hand massages.

Supportive Therapeutic Services
Our LPNs, Cooks and Health Care Assistants are an integral part of our Day Program Teams. They support the therapeutic process through their skill set and expertise. Each team member plays a part in the holistic person centered care of the participants.
Meals
A well-balanced and nutritional lunch is provided, which takes into account individual dietary requirements. In addition, we promote hydration and offer snacks.
Health Monitoring
As part of the therapeutic and assessment process, health monitoring and medication reminders are just a few of the many ways that the LPN assists participants in maintaining their health and well-being.
Health Care Assistants are an additional support to ensure participants’ personal care needs are met. They collaborate with the team to assist in the safety and health of our participants’.
We offer a therapeutic bath or shower for the individual who can no longer safely bathe in their own home. Participants must be referred to the bathing program through their Community Health Nurse at Fraser Health
