Our volunteers are an integral part of our team and they help ensure that we are able to deliver programs of quality to our participants. Volunteering provides a vital service to the community and also gives back to the volunteer. Our volunteers share a desire to connect with others and to make a difference. We have various roles to suit your skillset and timeframes and we would be happy to have you join our community of support. We are currently looking for:

  • 1 on 1 visits 1-2 hours once a week in the home of an isolated senior who would like social connection. Training is 4 hours. We have many seniors awaiting volunteers.

  • This role is for someone who loves helping and also loves learning. It requires training, and you would be in a local surrey library doing either 1 hour and four shifts per month or 2 hours 2x a month. You would sit at a table and offer resources to seniors and help seniors who fall through the cracks of systems. You would learn about housing, pensions, benefits, resources, and support. You meet with seniors either walking by or sent to you by the Brella staff and help them solve problems, find solutions, and fill in paperwork. This is a lot of work with many rewards, as you can significantly improve a person’s circumstances with your intervention.

  • Helping Older Adults with tech problems or teaching 1 on 1 lessons on how to use their device.

  • The Telephone Tree program offers support services to older adults over the phone. Our volunteers make weekly social calls offering participants a chance to be heard by providing emotional support, companionship and a sense of community. Volunteers can also provide clients with information and referral services as well as keep them informed about the programs and events in the community.

  • This role is for someone who loves administration and front desk activities. It requires training, and you would be based at our South Surrey location, helping with answering phone calls, transferring to specific programs, responding to emails, greeting guests as they enter the building, keeping track of the community board and resource wall, and assisting with printing. This involves a lot of work with many rewards. As you contribute to the organization in the administration area, you will gain valuable experience and knowledge in administration area.

  • The Community Engagement Program offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about community involvement and enjoying interactions with people. This program aims to boost Brella Society's visibility at the community events by the support of volunteers. the volunteers will assist with the event setup, and engagement activities. As a Community Engagement Volunteer, you will play a crucial role in creating memorable experiences for visitors at the Brella table by providing information about the organization’s programs.

  • Looking for any volunteers interested in helping lead/facilitate/create group social activities for Brella Online Events. Volunteers need to be comfortable joining virtual meetings on their computer/tablet and (learning to) facilitating group discussions. Volunteers are able to help from home as long as they have access to a computer/tablet and a stable internet connection. Training will be provided as required.
